Data Backup and Backup Solutions
There are three main types of backup systems that any user or business should consider. As with almost anything, it always starts with the actual computer and/or server. Desktop computers often have "file and folder" backup software which then back up to an on-site device. If the network has a server, then the server backs up date which, per best practices, is stored on an on-site but separate device such as an external hard drive or a NAS device. Then, in case of fire, flood or theft, there should also be an offsite or remote backup solution. Case in point, Francis Ford Coppola's computers and back up device were all stolen and he lost 15 years of documentation and records. Don't let this happen to you or your business! And, let's be honest, even if you have an on-site external backup solution like an external hard drive, are you going to be consistent about doing the backup? That's why remote backup is particularly important for any business. Each backup solution has its pros and cons. AXICOM can help you decide which solution is the best backup solution for your needs.
